Mercedes-Benz Trucks a major attraction.

Excellent verdict on the eight days of the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover. Visitors flocked to hall 14/15 and the outdoor exhibition grounds.

Trailblazing technology, high-calibre contacts, music, a driving event and a vision for the future of the sector – Mercedes-Benz Trucks' passionate dedication at the 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover certainly paid off. After the eight days at the show, Stefan Buchner, Head of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, pronounced an excellent verdict: “The IAA in Hanover is the leading trade fair for the entire commercial vehicle sector. Daimler Trucks reaffirmed its position as technology leader: The trendsetting technology and futuristic design of our self-driving Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 was a major attraction.”

The IAA attracted a quarter of a million visitors in all, many of whom had been looking forward to the Mercedes-Benz Future Truck 2025 well ahead of the event. In the 16,000 square metre exhibition hall 14/15, Mercedes-Benz Trucks presented its complete A-team comprising the Atego, Antos, Arocs and Actros, along with numerous vehicles from the Vans and Buses divisions and the special Zetros, Unimog and Econic vehicles.

More than 2000 visitors took the opportunity to gather off-road experience at the Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience training site.

Information, entertainment and a vision for the future.

Mika Auvinen's spectacular “Highway Hero” show truck, the World Cup truck used by Germany's victorious football team and the RoadStars show truck were popular photo motifs on the exhibition grounds outside the hall. The latter exhibit prompted numerous visitors to register for Mercedes-Benz Trucks' new RoadStars interactive internet platform and become part of the international truck community. More than 2000 visitors also took up the opportunity to gather off-road experience from A for Arocs to Z for Zetros at the Mercedes-Benz Driving Experience training site. The Truck Forum with Claudia Kleinert delivered a fund of interesting information, while good vibes abounded at the “Drivers Inn” with live singing and country flair. On each of the show's eight days, a team of more than 1000 staff from Mercedes-Benz Trucks attended to the inquisitive clientele, who went away with valuable impressions of the exhibited Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Matthias Wissmann, president of the Association of the German Automotive Industry (VDA), also took the opportunity to refer to the Future Truck 2025 in detail as a highlight of the show in his press conference review of the 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles show: “This IAA looked into the future – with the world's first autonomously driving truck. It sounds like science fiction: the truck travels safely on the motorway without requiring any intervention on the part of the driver; it communicates with its surroundings and provides for enhanced safety on the roads. It runs on less fuel and takes the strain off the driver in monotonous traffic situations. These capabilities are based on the intelligent networking of all existing safety systems, augmented by cameras, radar sensors and communication facilities between vehicles and with the infrastructure. There are many indications that this could become reality on our roads in ten years.”

High percentage of trade visitors and pronounced willingness to invest.

The share of trade visitors stood at 83 percent this year. According to the IAA's assessment, seven out of every ten trade visitors are decision-makers. The share of foreign representatives among the trade visitors was high once again, at a good 26 percent overall and peaking at 42 percent on certain days. Europe and China headed the list of trade visitors' areas of origin. Poland occupied 1st place for the first time this year. Our neighbouring country's share more than doubled, at 8,3 percent. Following up were the Netherlands (7.5 percent) and China (6.3 percent). A third of the Asian visitors to Hanover came from China. As was the case two years ago, China was thus once again by far the best represented country of this continent.

A survey of visitors conducted by the event's organisers has furthermore revealed that the visitors left the IAA 2014 with a greater willingness to invest than in 2012: a good 57 percent of visitors are planning to carry out investments in the area of commercial vehicles in the coming six to twelve months. The corresponding figure in 2012 was just under 54 percent. And a good one in two IAA visitors uses the show to prepare for investments. The corresponding figure among foreign guests is even higher, at 63 percent.

The 66thIAA Commercial Vehicles show will take place in Hanover once again, from 22 to 29 September 2016.

The Future Truck 2025 proved a major attraction among the 250,000 visitors to the 65th IAA Commercial Vehicles show.
