Friends, trucks and plenty of action – that's the Truck Trophy. Mercedes-Benz wanted to find the best drivers in Europe. The Truck Trophy from Mercedes-Benz Trucks isn't a competition in which you can win a prize. The Truck Trophy is all about having fun and enjoying the camaraderie.

During the qualifying rounds, the vast majority of tasks were to be completed outside of the truck cab, while the challenges of the final in spring 2017 will see the driving skill of the national teams put to the test.

The tasks to be completed were assigned to the categories “courage and strength”, “skilfulness and thinking skills”, and “teamwork”. Such tasks as conquering a climbing wall, tug of war, brake disc discus throwing, remote controlling a mini Actros or playing Truck Tabu were all part of the challenges. The two best participants from each country will form a national team in the final and go head-to-head with the five other national teams. In previous Truck Trophy events, the drivers came from three different countries but in the meantime, participants come from six European countries – Belgium, Germany, Romania, Poland, Switzerland and The Netherlands.

A great international adventure awaits the twelve finalists. However, the location remains a secret. We have prepared a quiz on RoadStars, as part of which you can guess where the final will take place in spring 2017!

The big adventure.

Friends, trucks and clear aims – that's the Truck Trophy. Mercedes-Benz is looking for the best drivers in Europe.

Without teamwork, nothing is possible – that's an unwritten rule of the Truck Trophy. Courage and strength, skilfulness, thinking skills and teamwork are a must for all participants. The Truck Trophy isn't just excitement and adventure, it's an unforgettable time. After the final rounds in 2008 and 2015, the third final of the driver event will take place in 2017. In previous Truck Trophy events, the drivers came from three different countries but in the meantime, participants come from six European countries. RoadStars users in Belgium, Germany, Romania, Poland, Switzerland and The Netherlands were challenged to apply and take part in the Truck Trophy qualifying.

Looking back: this was the Truck Trophy 2015.

The final round of the Truck Trophy 2015 led participants to Romania. The programme at the time included: experiencing trucks, conquering adventures and making acquaintances. For three days, ten participants from Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands battled it out in an impressive fight for first place. In powerful Mercedes-Benz trucks, they proved their driving skills off-road, on impressive mountain passes and on the apron of Sibiu International Airport in Transylvania. When they weren't in the cab, they were either slacklining over a lake, abseiling from a cable car pod, or riding quad bikes around a track which took all of their might.

The road to the 2017 final.

The starting places for the final of the Truck Trophy 2017 are almost all full already – only Belgium is still awaiting the final decision. Ten to twenty drivers from each country who registered their desire to participate via RoadStars, must first complete the national qualifying round in order to secure a place in the final. Only the two best drivers from a single country make it into the final stage. New challenges included: courage and strength, skilfulness, thinking skills and teamwork.

Duos from the countries hunt down the points.

In the preliminary stages, the drivers were fighting for themselves, but now in the final round, they must come together as a national team to harvest points. The location at which the final of the Truck Trophy 2017 will be held remains a secret. In the coming weeks, RoadStars will be publishing some tips about where it is that the twelve drivers will face each other head-to-head.

So don't miss out! All RoadStars users can have a guess at where they think it will take place. The first report with hints as to the continent on which the next Truck Trophy final will take place will be published here on RoadStars on 5 December.
