Even on glowing-hot sand tracks, the Actros remains a reliable
companion: in Wadi Wurayah to the north-east of the United Arab
Emirates, it's not uncommon for the thermometer to reach figures
above 50 degrees Celsius. Extreme temperatures and dry spells mark
the barren desert region.
The Wadi Wurayah nature reserve lies in the coastal region of the Gulf of Oman and belongs to the Fujairah emirate. It has a surface area of around 130 square kilometres and is the first mountainous nature reserve of the United Arab Emirates. The highest elevation in Wadi Wurayah is 956 metres above sea level. Some of the most rare mammals in the world live in the reserve. The region is one of just three remaining worldwide strongholds of the rare wild goat species called the Arabian tahr.
