Mika Auvinen’s new “Lowrider” show truck brings home the prizes
The airbrushed tractor unit impresses the crowd. The Finnish show Actros dream machine is collecting trophies.
“I just saw something special in this tractor unit, so why not have another go at it. And then there was no turning back.”
The Finnish show truck specialist has done it again: sleek violet, white-walled tyres and several square metres of chrome. With his new, spectacular “Lowrider” Actros tractor unit, Mika Auvinen from silo specialists Kuljetus Auvinen brings home one prize after the other. Equally an Actros, his first show truck, “Highway Hero”, shot to instant fame at the festival in 2014 and also made a stop at the IAA for Commercial Vehicles in Hanover. Now he's heading for round two. First, his “Lowrider” was voted “Best in Show” by the audience at the international Power Truck Show in Alahärmä, Finland. Then Mika won the Nordic Trophy title, which was handed over at this year's Trailer Trucking Festival near Linköping. In total, this is the seventh award which Mika Auvinen and his dream truck has won.
Worthy successor to the Highway Hero.
Mika’s new dream machine was designed by Perttu Papunen, who let his love of American lowrider cars flow into the design. The noticeably bling-bling look immediately won over Mika and his employees. All images and colours were carefully integrated into the overall concept. Thus, Mika's “Lowrider” isn't just a breath-taking homage to the legendary low-sprung American cars, but is now also a truly iconic vehicle in its own right.
“Lowrider” is also proof that Mika is in no way a “one-hit wonder”, as he devotes himself entirely to spectacular truck designs. Mika admits that it wasn't just a matter of course to start a new project after the amazingly well-received “Highway Hero”. “I just saw something special in this tractor unit, so why not have another go at it. And then there was no turning back,” Mika says, explaining his reasons to create another show truck together with Perttu Papunen.
