AXOR

We talk to Class 2 driver Sarah Munford about her love of trucks.

Find out more about Sarah's role and her truck 'Rozie'.

1. What is your name?

Sarah Munford.

2. What is your job title and company name?

Driver for Millfield Haulage Ltd based in Nether Poppleton, York and I do Class 2 local deliveries. http://millfieldhaulage.co.uk/

3. What industry do you work in?

Millfield Haulage is a member of the Pall-ex network, distributing pallets throughout the UK.

4. How long have you been a driver for?

I have had my truck licence for seven years and I have been driving for Millfield Haulage for 18 months.

5. Can you tell me about your truck? Make and model? Age?

When I first started at Millfield Haulage I drove various different trucks but just over a year ago they allocated me my own truck which is a 2012 Mercedes-Benz Axor. She is called Rozie – the name came from the number plate which ends RZS.

6. Are there any special features on your truck?

It has a large tail lift and no back doors.

7. Have you always been into trucks?

Yes. My wedding vehicle was a truck and went to a truck show on my honeymoon!

8. What or who got you interested in trucks?

My grandad owned a truck so I was interested from a young age.

9. Do you have any plans to show your truck this year? If so where and when?

I have shown Rozie twice so far this year. The first time was the Yorkshire Trucking Spectacular http://yorkshiretruckingspectacular.co.uk/ where I focussed on show prep – making sure she was up to show standard, the paintwork was right and everything including the chassis and engine compartment were completely clean.

The second was the Thirsk Truck Gathering where she was awarded 3rd Best Rigid. http://www.thirsktruckgathering.com/

Not yet confirmed but I’m hoping to show her at the North East Truck Show which is a fundraising event for the Great North Air Ambulance in Newcastle on 5/6 August http://northeasttruckers.org.uk/  and Barnard Castle Truck Show which is taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend 27-29 August.

10. What is your favourite feature of your truck?

I love the way she looks; the bright colours really make her stand out. She is easy to drive and really comfortable too.

11. How do people react when they see you and your truck?

Sometimes people are surprised that I drive a truck but generally people react positively.

12. What do you like most about your job?

I’m in different places all the time meeting new people. You never know from one day to the next what your day will be like. Some days are harder than others but I always enjoy it and Millfield is a great place to work, they trust you to get the job done.
