Actros1 is a blinder of a truck for KRP Trucking

ACTROS1

New flagship described as a “beautiful machine”

Family-owned KRP Trucking has roots that go back 40 years. The company began trading in its current form in 2008, and owner Ken Pratt decided to mark the firm’s 10th anniversary by ordering a stunning fleet flagship: the UK Limited Edition Actros1.

A different league.

The operator’s loyal team of drivers provide round-the-clock, express transport services covering a wide variety of loads, including air freight, for customers located throughout the region.

The truck is certainly a winner for former Durham Wasps ice hockey star John Hutley, who began driving trucks in 1999 after calling time on his professional playing career. To reflect the fact that much of his work entails transporting automotive parts to Birmingham, the back of his Actros1’s cab wall is decorated with a vinyl image featuring characters from the hit BBC series Peaky Blinders, which is set in the city.

“The Actros1 is a beautiful machine for long-distance work,” he enthused. “It’s a very comfortable, relaxed drive, and with so much storage the accommodation is perfect for nights away. It’s getting a lot of attention and really stands out from the crowd, too. Whichever way you look at it, the Mercedes-Benz is in a different league compared to my last truck.”

All the accessories.

Strikingly finished in all-black paintwork with vivid green highlights – Actros1 is also available in a silver/black scheme – KRP Trucking’s tractor unit features roof-mounted air horns, bi-xenon headlamps, LED tail lights and an illuminated grille-mounted star. It rides on Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels with painted hubs, while the operator has enhanced its appearance still further by specifying a Kelsa Hi Bar and Visor Bar lighting.

The luxurious Style Line interior is complemented by a leather-trimmed steering wheel and Comfort leather massage seats for driver and co-driver, an uprated multimedia entertainment system and a Premium Comfort mattress. Automatic climate control, an electric sunroof and sunblind, a microwave and pull-out refrigerator, and rear overhead lockers, also contribute to the ‘feel-good factor’.

The next level.

Ken Pratt is certainly pleased with his decision: “KRP Trucking has been forging ahead nicely, and in terms of the business plan we’re where I wanted to be after 10 years. This fantastic new Actros1 flagship takes us to the next level.”
