Jennifer Grankvist, Örebro: "Mercedes-Benz knows what hauliers want".

Jennifer Grankvist is not like everyone else. She wasn't even 25 when she founded her own company in an industry dominated by men. She chose Mercedes-Benz. "Here I am treated very differently as a customer, particularly in the workshop," she explains.

Östra Örebro Distribution is, in many ways, a typical Swedish haulage company. A medium-sized company with a mixed profile in a medium-sized town. The big difference is that the owner is called Jennifer, that she is young and approaches things in her own way. Amongst other things, she is involved in the movement "Här stannar Sverige" (Sweden is stagnating here"). The initiative aims to make the authorities aware of the many irregularities which are rife in the logistics industry in Sweden.

"I like to swim against the current. I like to be different to everyone else. As a female driver I was almost the only one far and wide. As a haulier, I am probably even more lonely," Jennifer says with a laugh.

Jennifer's choice of truck shows that she is prepared to go her own way.

"At the beginning I had used trucks from different brands," she reports. "Over time I decided that Mercedes-Benz is better for me, not least because of the work with the workshop. Also the Mercedes-Benz trucks are superior to those of other brands with regard to comfort and economy."

Jennifer tells us about one of her Mercedes-Benz trucks that had to go into the workshop after a collision with a wild animal to have the headlamps replaced. She also mentioned to the maintenance advisor that the driver had said something about the suspension. Later on the same day, the workshop called to tell Jennifer that they had ordered new bellows which they would fit when they put in the new headlamp.

"Last week the diesel heating system in my Atego was going to be replaced with a new one. it was the workshop that suggested that we distribute the work across two evenings. That way the vehicle could be driven on the day between and thus earn money. This shows that they understand what hauliers really want. And every Krone that I earn, makes me an even better Mercedes-Benz customer.“

At the moment Jennifer is in the process of replacing the three remaining trucks with Mercedes-Benz models. A new Actros is already in sight – it is the result of a fuel duel. The company borrowed an Actros which drove in the same traffic as the regular trucks.

"We saved one litre for every 10 km driven," Jennifer reports. "That was unbelievable. That is more than 100,000 SEK per year for just one single vehicle.“

Jennifer immediately ordered the new vehicle. The new trucks were all equipped with the FleetBoard telematics system. The haulage company and the workshop are thus always up-to-date with regard to the vehicles.

"During one of the first tours, the workshop called the driver and asked him to drive to the next tyre workshop to pump air into the front tyres because the air pressure was too low in one of them. Today, times have changed. Once a driver has driven a new Mercedes-Benz, he doesn't want to drive anything else anymore."
