On the road to accident-free driving, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has developed impressively innovative assistance systems – for example the unique Sideguard Assist.

"Don't react – act!" is the slogan used along the road to achieving the greatest possible levels of safety. Sideguard Assist was already introduced in 2016. The system can effectively protect pedestrians and cyclists as it assists drivers when turning off to the co-driver's side and warns them both visually and audibly in the case of an imminent collision. This makes more time available to the driver for applying the brakes as required.

Dabei sollten aber solche hilfreichen Assistenzsysteme standardmäßig (!) in alle Fahrzeuge eingebaut werden und nicht nur als Sonderwunsch erhältlich sein, da jeder Unfall -insbesondere mit Personenschaden - jeweils einer zu viel ist.
