Michael Wiese places truckers in jobs – and also drives himself

The boss at the wheel.

Service is decisive: when working for important customers, entrepreneur Michael Wiese prefers to drive his white Actros 1848 himself.

“I like being my own boss.”

– Michael Wiese, company owner and occasional trucker

Michael knows exactly how to find good truck drivers. After all, Vognmandens Vikar Bureau has been a successful trucker placement agency for 17 years now: “We do everything, including heavy haulage.”

In addition to the white Actros 1848 and two further tractor units of his own, his 20 employees are indispensable. What does he particularly like about his job? “I like being my own boss.” And you could say that the 54-year-old from Hornslet, Denmark, has been his own boss ever since he started working. Because before Michael started his own business he spent years behind the wheel himself as a full-time truck driver.

Now Michael cherry picks: “Needless to say, the best customers get the best service and the best driver”, he says with a wink. Michael makes high demands on the drivers he places: “They must have a truck driving licence, be reliable and over 40.”

To Paris in the Actros.

With a father from Hamburg and a Danish mother, Michael speaks fluent German and gets behind the wheel himself twice a week. Today, he has 150 expensive television cameras on board. Danish state television needs them on the island of Funen.

His wife sometimes accompanies him to particularly attractive destinations such as Paris. The couple has three grown-up children. The trips they take together are first and foremost about pleasure. “Good food, wine and shopping”, is what Michael looks forward to.

As for many Danes, the family's summer holiday house is part of the good life. As is handball, of course.

Regular stops at the truck wash are part and parcel of Michael's customer service.
