Drivers at Truckfest Peterborough discuss how they got into trucking and what they like about the job.

We caught up with truckers at Truckfest in Peterborough to chat about how they got into trucking originally and ask them what they enjoy about the industry. Find out what they had to say.

How did you get into trucking?

There are many reasons why drivers enter the industry; from following in family member’s footsteps to utilising opportunities in the military to simply wanting to try something new. Every person has a different start in their career and it was great to find out about the different routes from the driver community at Truckfest.

What do you like most about trucking?

The drivers also enthusiastically told us why they enjoy their jobs – independence, freedom and being your own boss proved the most popular themes. Some also said they loved being on the open road and appreciated the change of scenery as well as the variety the role offers.

Truckfest is always fantastic, bringing like-minded drivers together to explore and discuss trucks, technology and the industry. We love seeing all the vehicles on offer and hearing real stories and varied viewpoints. We look forward to seeing you all at future Truckfest events!

o this after my 1st love was football.. I made it into professional football with Barnsley but never made the grade. Has a kid I used to go out very early in the morning with a friend of my parents who was a hgv driver. I loved it. Soon has I got released I went into bus driving to get a little experience, Then I got my Class one and never looked back. I am even now training people to drive both Class 2 and Class 1. there is no better feeling than when they pass. Then training them to become better drivers all the time in a Mercedes lgv.  Love it.
