After 30 years: Kaspar Almer’s SK has reached the one-million-kilometre mark

One truck, one driver, one million kilometres.

When RoadStars visited Kaspar Almer and his SK 1726, the clock read 997,000 kilometres. Now the skip loader has gone past one million.

Kaspar Almer is in no doubt about what the secret to one million is: eight trips around Regensburg every day for 30 years. “And all with a truck, of course,” Kaspar says proudly.

“The technology has never let me down. I’ve never considered replacing the truck.”

After going through the one-million mark, the six-digit clock on the SK has now reset to zero.

The 83-year-old first worked on a dredger at his uncle’s company when he was a young man.

He then moved to his father’s haulage company, which he later took charge of himself. After his son Ludwig took control of the company, he remained involved as a driver – until this very day.

The Regensburg native is still very happy with his SK 1726, which was built in 1990.
