Czech Republic: Ibos equips vehicles with high-quality environmental technology

Vehicle & Technology

Dynamic duo.

Ibos a.s. has had a clear goal since its inception: to become number one in the production and marketing of technologies for the cleaning, milling, monitoring and maintenance of waste-water pipes.

“It is important that the chassis delivered and our system form a functional unit together.”

– Martin Hobza, owner of Ibos

“Our company was founded in 1999,” says Martin Hobza, founder and owner of Ibos from the city of Budweis. The company develops technologies for the cleaning, monitoring, milling and repairing of sewers. “We follow technological developments and endeavour to react appropriately to them. Just as with other business areas, progress in our industry is steady. As we often say: “Standing still is moving backwards.” As such, we primarily focus on customer-specific innovations and adapt our product and service portfolio to the needs of our clients.” If an existing customer or even a potential buyer is interested in high-pressure machines, assembly technology or other equipment, they can watch a practical test on demonstration days.

Following the successful development of the business, the company chose to expand into foreign markets and not remain just a player on the national stage. The numbers confirm this profitable expansion. “Today, we have branches in 15 countries,” explains Hobza.

Throughout the 20-year history of Ibos, there have certainly been many important milestones, but the most important moment was the start of the cooperation with Mercedes‑Benz in 2009. “The vehicles are not used for the transport of goods, rather they are offered to our customers together with our technology. The cleaning and monitoring technology uses the entire range of Mercedes‑Benz commercial vehicles, from vans to trucks. And nearly all models come into play, but predominantly those with a tonnage of between 12 and 26 tonnes.”

Quality always plays a key role, not least because the vehicles are often deployed if a malfunction within the sewerage system needs to be cleared quickly. “It’s important that the chassis delivered and our system form a functional unit together, and the Mercedes‑Benz vehicles are proving to be a great success in this regard. We will therefore continue this collaboration in the coming years.”

A very special project for Ibos drew to a close in the summer of 2019. Hobza and his team fitted an Arocs 3245 with a special body optimised for the disposal of liquid waste for the Prague-based company Aston. Hobza states: “I believe that this vehicle in the Czech Republic will be unique. The industry here has never seen anything like it.”
