On the road and the first change of plan: the Kammermanns on “World Tour”

Series: 4-Xtremes – The World Tour

A bumpy start.

Yes, it’s true: the Kammermanns are off again! But the “4-Xtremes – The World Tour” has hardly started and the two Swiss overland enthusiasts have already had to prove how flexible they are.

Back on the road – and back on the computer: Andrea Kammermann usually writes the articles for the RoadStars community in the living container.

A few days ago we let our dog, Aimée, jump into the cab, set the total distance reading to zero and pulled away in the Axor – with the North Cape as our first destination. It is an indescribable feeling to have the world before, us without knowing where we will go and when.

And as a matter of fact we already had to adjust our new route once: North Cape is in Norway, which won’t open its borders before the end of August. We could still take the direct route via Germany and Denmark. But then we would have to spend a lot of time just travelling a short distance. Also, we have travelled Germany extensively during lockdown and would now like to discover other countries.

Let’s just get started! The Kammermanns will have to make changes to their route on their “World Tour” every now and again. In lovely places like Gundelsheim here in Baden-Württemberg it’s easy to make plans.

Detour via eastern Europe, the Baltic states and Finland.

That is why we decided to cross the border from Bavaria to the Czech Republic to then reach the Baltic via Poland. From there we wanted to cross to Finland and then travel cross-country to the far North. We will certainly experience a lot on this route until the end of August – until we can push forward to the North Cape. From there we want to travel back south, zig-zagging between Norway and Sweden.

Can we really do it like that? The time and above all the unpredictable travel regulations in the individual countries will tell! But really the exact route is of secondary importance. The main thing is that we’re on the road and stay on it!
