Tractor transporter: Thorsten Kröger and his restored L 4500

Classic vehicles

Village beauty.

In the 1950s, a tractor manufacturer in Thorsten Kröger’s neighbourhood delivered new vehicles using an L 4500 – the model on which he has based the restoration work of his structurally identical truck.

The series.

In 1953, the L 4500 rolled out of production in Mannheim along with the successful L 3500. Although identical to its little brother in construction, it can take a one-tonne heavier payload.

The L 4500 was available as a platform truck with a 3.600 millimetre or 4.200 millimetre wheelbase. In 1955, the L 4500’s series designation was changed to L 312.

In the end, with a total of around 75.000 trucks, the L 4500/L 312 also surpassed the L 3500/L 311 when it came to the number of vehicles produced.
