“The light dumper truck made in Mannheim – a typical example of the short-nosed truck generation of the time.”
In 1959, completely new vehicles appeared in the light-weight and medium-weight classes. They were designed as short-nosed vehicles, which means that the engine was no longer entirely in front of the cab, but rather pushed slightly into it. Accordingly, the vehicles could be built considerably shorter than their predecessors.
The design followed that of car design: an all-enveloping body (the so-called Ponton shape) instead of the previous free-standing wings and headlamps. From 1967/1968, the vehicles were given a modified cab with a higher windscreen.
