Street Art: Ruben Poncia paints an Atego in London

RoadStars meets Street Art

An Atego in London.

Everyone knows this architecture – and this vehicle too. Ruben Poncia creates a worthy stage for the Atego.

The task:

Every child knows London's landmarks – Big Ben, the London Eye big wheel and the world-famous skyscraper at 30 St Mary Axe, nicknamed "The Gherkin". When an Atego crosses Tower Bridge in the early hours of the morning, together the sights form a breathtaking backdrop. Artist Ruben Poncia rises to the challenge.

"Tokyo, Japan's capital, Guanajuato in Mexico and Almelo in the Netherlands are some of the most exciting places that I have been able to visit. I can remember the precise moment when I held a brush and paint in my hands for the first time: it was Friday, 10 April 2009 at 9.16 a.m."

"I never learned to paint in school or at university. For me, my work is above all an expression of creativity. I prefer to paint unrealistic things and just have at it. For me it was tricky to bring London's many landmarks together into one motif."
