Mercedes-Benz L 6600
Classic vehicle
An endless search for the parts that fit: it took ten years to restore this Mercedes-Benz L 6600.
Plenty of imagination was needed in the beginning: it can safely be said that what Oliver Thomsen turned up at the yard with a good ten years ago looked like anything but a viable means of transport. The main reaction among the family was initially a pronounced raising of the eyebrows. Undaunted, the forwarding agent from the north of Hamburg calmly argued his case and persuaded his kith and kin that this Mercedes-Benz L 6600 would one day be a true gem!
Thomsen is the fourth owner. In regular service in northern Germany from 1954 to 1967, the vehicle had already undergone a number of makeovers. The originally mounted platform was replaced at some point by a refrigerated body. This was subsequently succeeded by a refrigeration assembly. At the end of its official career, the long-nosed truck was on the road with a tank body.
