Winter maintenance: The Unimog at the Grossglockner
Vehicle & Technology
About 700,000 cubic metres of snow and ice block the 48-kilometre Grossglockner High Alpine Road every year. This is an ideal operating terrain for the Unimog. In the spring, new models were able to impressively demonstrate their capability.
At 2,571 metres above sea level, the Grossglockner High Alpine Road is the highest paved mountain road in Austria. It offers a fantastic view of a breathtaking natural landscape. So it’s hardly surprising that it ranks as one of the Alpine republic’s most popular tourist attractions. Every year, around 900,000 visitors flock to the Alpine pass alongside Austria’s highest mountain (3,798 metres) between May and October.
