Truck Generations

Italy, Bassano del Grappa, Distilleria Bortolo Nardini.

The glazed bubbles of the research laboratory at the Distilleria Bortolo Nardini in the Italian town of Bassano hover over the ground like space capsules preparing to land.

They were presented to the public in 2004 as part of the 225th anniversary celebrations of the company's founding. The modern construction by architect Massimiliano Fuksas is reminiscent of the chemical processes in distillation. With their futuristic appearance the "Bolle", as the bubbles are called, rise up in a park designed by Pietro Porcinai at the beginning of the 1980s, where they serve not only as laboratories, but also as an unusual location for events. Founded by Bortolo Nardini in 1779, the Distilleria in Bassano del Grappa is the oldest Grappa distillery in Italy.

The L 6600 is, of course, not quite as old as the location where it gets laden with its high-strength freight. Built between 1950 and 1962, it was the first new-build of a heavy truck after the war.
