Truck Generations

South Africa, Postmasburg, Jasper solar power station.

A lot of electricity is generated here. With over 325,000 solar panels, the Jasper solar power station provides up to 80,000 households with electrical power.

The 96-megawatt photovoltaic installation is in South Africa's Postmasburg, around 1000 kilometres north-east of Cape Town. It was completed in October 2014. During its construction, more than 800 workers accrued over one million man-hours. Annually, the network is supplied with around 180,000 megawatt hours. One of the investors was the US Internet giant Google.

An L 1924 delivers equipment for further expansion, so that the installation doesn't lose steam in the future. This model was the first to be assembled in all Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle plants worldwide. Today, the robust round-bonneted truck is still a common sight on the streets of many African countries.
