Ralf Ekdahl's truck is an homage to “The Boss”.

Haulier Ralf Ekdahl has taken to giving his company's trucks a completely new look from time to time: this has seen them being turned into advertising boards on wheels which leave a lasting impression. His latest creation was on show at the ELMIA Lastbil show: a Mercedes-Benz Actros 2551 semitrailer tractor with GigaSpace cab – the ultimate homage to “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen.

The first thing you notice is, of course, the paintwork: the base colour is dark blue which then becomes violet. Onto this, the legendary airbrush artist Terje Aspmo painted vast motifs inspired by Sprinsteen's long career. Absolutely unique is the cover over the fifth wheel coupling, signed in person by Bruce Springsteen and his long-term guitarist Nils Lofgren.

The Mercedes-Benz truck has an impressive amount of special parts in stainless steel, among which the bumper guide poles in the shape of illuminated, old-school microphones. On the outside of the vehicle, six speakers have been added for playing “Born to Run” when the truck is parked at events.

Inside, the truck is just as fantastic. Painted motifs, neon lights, leatherwork – all following the “Stars and Stripes” idea, not to mention an ornately worn Fender Telecaster integrated into the underside of the bed. Guitar volume knobs were even used as décor elements!

A silo semitrailer in stainless steel was also pimped in the same style. The imposing vehicle combination is a true magnet for attention!

Building the vehicle and painting it took a whole year. It is used by Ekdahls Miljö haulage firm, which has a fleet of 75 trucks and employs 64 staff.
