The Mercedes-Benz LM 311 from “Walters Oldtimer” museum: waste collection from times gone by

Classic vehicles

One for the museum.

A Mercedes-Benz LM 311 is the star of the “Walters Oldtimer” museum in Knittlingen.

Gerd Baumann from "Walters Oldtimer" museum took the LM 311 for a spin, specially for RoadStars.

The model series.

At first sight, the vehicle with its complex body appears a little strange. But when you take a closer look, you'll recognise a familiar face from previous times. The L 3500 – as the L 311 model series was known until 1954 – is one of the big success stories of the 1950s. From 1955, the trucks from the Mannheim plant were given a new model designation. Instead of stating the payload (3.5 tonnes in the case of the L 3500, for example), the construction number was used to give the truck its model name.
