Ralf Werns brings the "Red Baron" to the motorway

RoadStars meets

A special Actros, a special design.

Ralf Werns would like an exclusive look for his "20 years of Actros" special model. His wife Sandra found just that while looking at the truck's paintwork.

(Almost) everything revolves around the vehicles:Ralf Werns also spends his free time on the "Red Baron".Before acquiring the "20 years of Actros" special model, two vintage cars from the 70s were his favourite things to tinker with.

Sandra Werns likes to look after the finer things in life. She is the right person to go to with questions on style. An example: when her husband Ralf acquired a "20 years of Actros" special model for his transport business."Lots of people have flames on red cars. That's why I wanted to find something completely different for the handsome truck", explains Sandra. "That's when the story of the Red Baron came to mind, the flying hero of the First World War with the red plane."

Now Ralf is driving a truck that really is one of a kind. The design of his Actros attracts attention time and again when he sets off on a trip from Wunstorf near Lake Steinhude in Lower Saxony: "People always take a second look", says the 48-year old.

"Always in the middle of things".

Ralf has been on the motorways and roads of the Federal Republic for 22 years now, mostly in the north and west of Germany. His load: parts for the automotive industry, such as wheels and tyres. The company "Werns Transport" has twelve employees and eight trucks – and the boss drives, too."I always like to be in the middle of things", says Ralf.Especially now, of course, with this vehicle!

Even on the weekends the native of Lower Saxony is captivated by his trucks.Until recently, he was for the most part busy with his two vintage cars from the 70s.Now his precious free time is dedicated to the red Actros.
Downtime is not something for this up-beat self-employed man who enjoys the finer things in life.

A heart for everyone.

"Ralf has a big heart for everyone and everything", explains Sandra. This means that it's not just the trucks that are well looked after. His family, friends and colleagues also benefit from his helpfulness. This is a matter of course for Ralf: "You can really make life a lot nicer with a little bit more thoughtfulness."
