Trucking Milestones: 1974 – a round-hood L 2624/6x4 on major inspection jobs

Series: Trucking milestones

Traffic? No worries.

Making road closures a thing of the past: the L 2624/6x4 and its underbridge inspection unit.

For all those who dreamed about being a firefighter at the top of the ladder at dizzying heights as a child: working on the so-called underbridge inspection unit would surely have come in second place. The marvel from the 1970s was built on an L 2624/6x4 and was able to keep a close eye on every bridge in the Federal Republic of Germany. The platform, which could carry two people and 190 kilogrammes of tools and equipment, took you up to the most remote corners.

Whether an inspection, corrosion control, renovation or installation work, scaffolding under bridges that disturbed the traffic became a thing of the past in the year 1974.
