The Truck Trophy finalists

Truck Trophy 2017

Truck Trophy: the heroes for the final in spring 2017 are confirmed!

The qualifying rounds have decided and the twelve finalists for this year’s Truck Trophy have been named. Who are the brave truck drivers who have chosen to embark on this February adventure? As from today, you can meet the six national teams here on RoadStars.

What are your strengths, what is your team motto and what do the participants expect from the final in Sweden? These and other questions are answered by our winners, sometimes with home-made videos. They also tell us what makes their team special and where their strengths lie, so that they can tackle the Truck Trophy 2016/2017 Final and maybe win it.

In the coming two weeks, here on RoadStars we will present the national teams one after another: from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and Switzerland.

You can go to the comments below and of course cheer on your favourites and tell us which team you support.

Przemysław Haber.

Janusz Zalewski.

How do you prepare for the final?

After having enjoyed Christmas and New Year with our families, we've now started mentally preparing ourselves for the final.

What makes your team so special?

Both of us have different experience from the transport sector, which is why we fully complement one another. At the same time, we both have our own strengths and we're sure that these will help us to win either the European or world champion title.

What motivates you?

What motivates us most of all is representing our country. We're both patriots at heart and have promised our colleagues that we'll give our all.

What team motto have you chosen?

Our sport is transport.

Have you got a particular strategy?

Let's talk about it when we find out what tasks await us. Now all we can say is: we won't give up.

Can you say three words to describe your team partner?

Przemysław & Janusz: Ambitious, brave, indestructible.

How do you think you complement each other?

As already mentioned, we've had different experiences as professional drivers, and that gives us the practical knowledge which allows us to complement each other.

Belgium.

Kris Langers.

Kevin Staes.

How do you prepare for the final?

We stay in contact with one another and in some situations we seek confirmation from each other.

What makes your team so special?

We are a complementary team.

What motivates you?

Courage and the will to go as far as possible.

What team motto have you chosen?

Being as “K”orrect as possible, because our team name is “K-stars”!

We will look on a moment-by-moment basis, discuss with one another and try to find the best solution.

Can you say three words to describe your team partner?

Kevin & Kris: Courage, willpower and rational thinking.

What task did you like most in the qualifying round?

Tug of war – feel the team spirit.

How do you think you complement each other?

Great minds think alike!

Netherlands.

Lodewijk Blokland.

Pascal van den Oetelaar.

How do you prepare for the final?

Lodewijk jogs to improve his endurance and to lose weight and Pascal tries to go to a sports centre at least twice as a week as work allows - for his endurance, too. Otherwise we will just play it by ear; we are both well-trained drivers and, as a result, expect everything to go well!

What makes your team so special?

Well, because we are from the Netherlands, obviously. And during the Dutch final it turned out that we complement each other really well in areas in which the other one is weaker. And for that reason together we made good progress!

What motivates you?

Our motivation is to win first place just like our "driver colleague" did last year! We want to show that the Netherlands don't just send anyone to the European championships!

What team motto have you chosen?

We haven't really got a motto, we just enjoy it and put in 110% effort.

Have you got a particular strategy?

We've thought out a perfect strategy, but unfortunately we can't say anything about it, because we are afraid that the competition might hear about it! ;)

Can you say three words to describe your team partner?

Pascal: Easy-going, typically Dutch fighter.
Lodewijk: Socially-minded, helpful, easy-going.

What task did you like most in the qualifying round?

We liked the tug of war best as everyone was cheered on loudly, although we didn't really know each other! That shows the fellowship amongst the drivers.

How do you think you complement each other?

Lodewijk has the power and the speed and Pascal has the ability to think and leadership skills.

Germany.

Andreas Amrhein.

Alexander Sehl.

How do you prepare for the final?

We each had a look at the reviews of last year's event on Roadstars and apart from that, we stay in contact with each other all the time and exchange ideas. The rest comes with the job.

What makes your team so special?

The fun we have driving trucks and solving team exercises.

What motivates you?

The pictures of the last few years and the excitement of being involved in a real adventure. Add to that the privilege of being able to compete for the whole, great qualification team!

What team motto have you chosen?

You can recognise professionals by the fact that they think faster than others can drive. (A thank you to Uwe Haller from the qualifying round)

Have you got a particular strategy?

We'll see how things go and react accordingly.

Can you say three words to describe your team partner?

Andreas: A team player, ambitious, a winner.
Alex: Friendly, funny, motivated.

Which task did you like most in the qualifying round?

The climbing wall.

How do you think you complement each other?

Our differences are what help us to complement each other and form a great team.

Romania.

Unfortunately, our finalist Eduard Dragulescu will be unable to attend the final for professional reasons. Nicolae Popescu, who only narrowly missed qualifying for the final will duly replace him and is already looking forward to the Truck Trophy adventure.

How do you prepare for the final?

We're ready to tackle all challenges because that's what we do every day.

It's the first time there's been a team from Romania taking part in this event, and we want it to be unforgettable.

Stay young, stay trucker, be the best!

The test with the remote-controlled truck.
