A special connection: Wolfgang Reich held on to his grandpa’s SK 1735 AK

Classic vehicle

A cherished truck.

In memory of his grandfather, Wolfgang Reich restored the SK 1735 AK with care. In his own truck collection, his grandpa’s last truck is of great significance.

The series.

First introduced in 1985, the OM 442 A was given a new lease on life starting in 1988 in the new “Schwere Klasse” (SK) (heavy class). It then offered a maximum torque of 1,619 Nm from just 1,000 and to 1,600 rpm.

The further development of the 400 engine series offers direct injection of approximately 1,000 bar, a new combustion chamber geometry and new air intake and exhaust gas systems.

Compared to the NG 85, the SK not only has a lighter frame for weight reduction, but also features the use of plastic in areas where metal had previously been relied upon – such as for mudguards, steps, front spoilers and wind deflectors.
