Sublime Alps and challenging topography: the Atego on its way to Stelvio Pass.

The Stelvio Pass mountain pass – the queen of Alpine roads and one of the most imposing roads in the world. The 27.5-kilometre-long north-east side features an unbelievable 48 hairpin turns and gradients of up to 14.8 per cent leading up to the highest mountain pass in Italy and the second highest asphalted mountain pass in the Alps.

The Italian Stelvio Pass connects Prad in South Tyrol with Bormio in Lombardy. The almost 22-kilometre-long western side features another 34 turns on the descent.

Spectacular 4,000-metre summits all around, escarpments, glaciers, lakes and alpine pastures make the tour a real experience. And up on the 2,757-metre-high pass, cafes, restaurants and hotels offer a welcome break. Good that the Atego is bringing more supplies.

Its performance keeps everything running; it connects our lives. From Finland to Chile, from Portugal to Australia. Hence, the motto of the Mercedes‑Benz Trucks Calendar 2020 is “Great Landscapes”.

Vorig jaar met de racefiets de Stelvio beklommen. Fantastisch. De hele tijd een prachtig uitzicht zelfs als je na verloop van tijd al die haarspeld bochten ziet die je nog moet beklimmen. Als je bijna boven bent dan kijk je om en zie je weer al die bochten en dan ben je trots op jezelf. Ik denk trouwens dat ik met mijn Actros inclusief oplegger iets langer onderweg ben😂

Spannende Strecke über den Stelvio. Mit dem Lkw habe ich ihn noch nicht befahren, doch mit dem Motorrad ein immer mal wiederkehrende Tour.
