RoadStars Trophy: the heroes of the final have now been selected!
RoadStars Trophy 2019/2020
The qualifying rounds have concluded and the 18 finalists for this year’s RoadStars Trophy are now known. But who are the brave truck drivers who have chosen to embark on this adventurous 2020 final? As of today, you can meet the nine national teams right here on RoadStars. We’ll be presenting a new team to you each week.
Where are you from? Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself …
Stefan B.: My name is Stefan Brodinger. I come from Wolfsberg
in Carinthia, Austria. I am 43 years old and have been a driver for 23
years. I live in a relationship and am the father of two sons.
Stefan R.: I am Stefan Rohrmoser, 42 years old and live in
Großarl. It’s in the Pongau region of Salzburg. I am happily married
to my wife Daniela since 2011. As a balance to my work I have made
hunting my hobby. I enjoy every moment I can spend in the forest and
in nature. Skiing, touring and hiking are also part of my leisure
activities.
Which industry do you drive for?
Stefan B.: I am employed by a personnel leasing company. Therefore, my field of activity as a truck driver is very broad. My special fields are construction and special transports.
Stefan R.: Professionally, I am employed in works traffic at
the largest private glass processing company in Austria. I’m now in my
6th year.
What do you like about your job?
Stefan B.: What I like about my job is the variety. Every day
a new surprise!
Stefan R.: What fascinates me most is the daily return home,
my own truck, the varied work (company and construction site
deliveries) and the independent arrangement of the tours.
Are you getting ready for the final?
Stefan B.: Of course I am trying to prepare for the final. As
far as possible, I would like to look at the video material from
previous years. There also will be discussions on the topic with my
team partner Stefan Rohrmoser.
Stefan R.: Of course I am preparing for the final.😁 But HOW
shall remain a secret. My level of ambition is naturally high.
What makes your team so special?
Stefan B.: Determination, expertise and also the right amount
of humour.
This is exactly how our team can be described.
Stefan R.: Our AT team impresses with willpower, cleverness,
strength, interaction and cohesion.
Can you describe your team mate in three words?
Stefan B.: Stefan Rohrmoser is the ideal team partner for me.
Many years of experience, fighting spirit and cleverness are his
outstanding qualities.
Stefan R.: To describe my friend and partner in 3

Where are you from? Who are you? Tell us a little bit about yourself …
Martin: Switzerland / Zurich, Knonaueramt. 46 years old, conscientious, straightforward, outgoing. I’m a downhill biker (sport), a family man, I like skiing and the voluntary fire service.
Theo: Switzerland / Wangen an der Aare. 39 years old,
authentic, positive-thinking, honest. I play hornussen (Swiss sport),
I like cultivating friendships, enjoying good food and hiking.
For which industry do you drive?
Martin: Crane driver.
Theo: National short-distribution haulage.
What do you like about your job?
Martin: The diversity; it's full of variety, the freedom.
Theo: Being independent, the contact with people and the mobile workplace.
Are you getting ready for the final?
Martin: I am using the same tactics as I did for the RoadStars qualifying round.
Theo: We’re just enjoying the anticipation and staying
healthy.
What's so special about your team?
Martin: We’ve got on since day one and complement each other well. We think the same way and together we’re strong.
Theo: We’ve got on since the beginning and complement each

Can you describe your team partner in just three words?
Martin about Theo: Spontaneous, loyal, laid-back type of guy.
Theo about Martin: Likeable, team player, cool guy.
Where do you come from? Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself …
Victor: My name is Victor Arsenie, I’m from Bumbesti Jiu,
Romania, and I love going out on my motorbike when I have the
time.
Nathan: My name is Nathan Miclea and I come from Turda,
Romania.
Which industry do you drive for?
Victor: My daily work is transporting foodstuffs under
special temperature conditions.
Nathan: I work in general courier services.
What do you like about your job?
Victor: Day in, day out I have the opportunity to discover
new things and new people, and each trip is a new challenge for me.
One which I have to carry out to the best of my ability.
Nathan: What I love most about my work is experiencing new
things. Every day, and with each kilometre.
Are you getting ready for the final?
Victor: At the moment I’m only preparing mentally, because I
can practise every day at work. And actually I don’t really know what
challenges await me in the grand final. I can hardly wait until they
tell us where it will be held this year.
Nathan: I’m very happy to have won the national heat and I’m
delighted at this opportunity to take part in an international
championship. At the moment I’m not really preparing, I think
positively and I’m very keen to get to know the participants from
other countries. I can hardly wait.
What’s especially important about your team?
Victor: I would say it’s our team spirit and the support we give each other that will help us in the final. Also, we’re already friends and that’s sure to show in our results. I’m confident we’re one of the best teams in the final of the RoadStars Trophy.
Nathan: I’m happy to be in the same team as Victor; he’s the
best team player I could ever have got – because he complements me.
The most important thing for our team is the team spirit. Also, Victor
is good at looking ahead, like with chess – that will help us at the
next championship.
Can you describe your team mate in three words?
Victor about Nathan: Friendly, intelligent, sharp-witted.
Nathan about Victor: Strong, determined, intelligent.
Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself …
Marcel: Marcel van den Hoogen, I was born in Siebengewald, North Limburg and I now live in Geleen, South Limburg. I’m 47, remarried, I have two daughters of my own and now I also have two stepsons. I’m a passionate driver and I’ve been doing it with enthusiasm for 25 years. Of that time, I’ve driven a Mercedes-Benz for over 12 years.
Richard: I’m Richard Bijpost, I’m 50 years old and I live in Velserbroek. I live with my partner and our two boys. I’ve been working for Dura Vermeer for 29 years, and I really enjoy it.
Which industry do you drive for?
Marcel: I deliver advertising brochures and medicines all over the country with a box-body semitrailer.
Richard: I work for the construction business.
What do you like about your job?
Marcel: The freedom the job provides, and the customers to whom its a pleasure to deliver to and pick up from.
Richard: The nice thing about my job is the variety. And I like working with roadworks machinery.
Are you getting ready for the final?
Marcel: Yes, a bit more sport to keep fit, and time together for the team spirit.
Richard: As preparation, I work out three or four times a week.
What makes your team so special?
Marcel: Good team spirit, we’re both on the same wavelength for the trophy – “we’re strong together and we’ll get it done”.
Richard: The special thing about this team is that we have lots of fun doing it.
Can you describe your team mate in three words?
Marcel about Richard: A fighter, a team worker and always in a good mood.
Richard about Marcel: My team mate is: a fighter, cheerful and caring.
Where are you from? Who are you? Tell us a bit about yourself …
Niccolò: Hi, I’m Niccolò and I come from Verona. I’m 31 years old, I’m married to Marina and we’ve got two children: Michele and Filippo. I’m a sociable type, but I’m performance-oriented too.
Ettore: My name’s Ettore, I come from Rome, I’m 50 years old
and almost 19 years ago I started driving a semitrailer on scheduled
routes. I’ve been working in research for ten years: I work for ENEA,
the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, and I take care of
logistics for the national Antarctic research programme. I normally
drive a 3-axle EuroStar with a crane for container transport, and I
also have loose goods on pallets. My work is very varied because I
transport all kinds of things, anything that needs to be taken to the
Antarctic or brought back. There are two Italian bases there and a
research ship. I’ve already had research equipment to transport,
containers with supplies for the station, decompression chambers and
many other things...
About my personal life: I have three
children, I like being with my friends, I’ve always done sports, I’m a
martial arts trainer (judo and self-defence). When I can manage it, I
train a child and youth group, with kids ranging from 4 to 14 years
old, as well as a group of adults. And I love travelling.
Which industry do you drive for?
Niccolò: I transport refrigerated foodstuffs, mainly fruit and vegetables.
Ettore: Public services, research.
What do you especially like about your job?
Niccolò: I think it’s good that I don’t feel tied to a
specific workplace in a warehouse or an office. I like being able to
enjoy the scenery when I’m driving and that I can always see new
things. And of course I like driving. Driving is my passion.
Ettore: The wide range of freight I transport, and the places
I visit doing it.
Are you getting ready for the final?
Niccolò: Sure, I’m ready for any challenge.
Ettore: The scouts’ motto is “estote parati – be prepared”.
In view of the finalists we’ll give our very best …
What’s special about your team?
Niccolò: We have all the things you need for a successful
team: strength, experience, intuition and the will to win.
Ettore: The whole range of different competences, respect,
the capacity for team work.
Can you describe your team comrade in three words?
Niccolò: Witty, determined and loyal.
Ettore: Strong, thoughtful, modest.

this time there is no Polish team for the RoadStars Trophy. If you are referencing the International Team, it was drawn by chance from all the applicants. It was simply a matter of mere luck to be drawn for that and this time luck has not been on your side. 😉🍀
