Tianmen Mountain Winding Road, China.

It has 99 bends and climbs more than 1100 metres altitude over just eleven kilometres: Tianmen Mountain Winding Road in China is a road with out-of-this-world climbs – a challenge which the Actros is also keen to tackle.

The Tianmen national park with its almost vertical mountain peaks reaching into the sky is around eight kilometres south of the Chinese town of Zhangjiajie in Hunan province. It belongs to the Wulingyuan region which has been part of the UNESCO world heritage since 1992. Besides the spectacular road, one of the longest funicular railways in the world takes visitors up to the peak of Tianmen Mountain. The 98 cabins of the funicular railway cover 7400 metres with climbs of up to 37 degrees. High above the pinnacle near the mountain station sits a more-than 500-year-old Buddhist temple. It draws in thousands of visitors per year from all around the world.
